John Hewitt, our Chairman and Founder with his wife Pat Hewitt (deceased), founded the company in 1969. John having spent almost all of his working life in the trade and to this day his passion has not waned. The company retains its strong family connections with youngest daughter Sara Long a Director and Paul Hewitt son, the Sales Director both working in the Company. Johanna Norton the eldest daughter has her own business based in Norfolk. I joined the motor trade in 1980 having always been in sales and have been with NMG for over 50% of that career period and still counting.
The Company has continued to grow we now operate from four locations in Norwich. Since 1969 we have supplied customers far and wide, including overseas, with over 48,000 new and used vehicles sold. We perform over 13,000 vehicle services a year in our workshops, and almost 4,000 MOT’s a year at the two MOT Centres.
No good Company can survive without good staff and we are delighted to have awarded almost 70% of the workforce with long service awards, the longest awards being 45, 35 and 32 years. In addition, we have a healthy number of staff who having reached official retirement ages, asked us if they could stay on and we of course were pleased they wanted to do so, they are all still with us, so perhaps we are doing something right.
We are also investors in people, as the younger staff are our future and we have helped produce some great stars of the future, several of our younger staff have won national accolades under Franchise and Motor Trade Apprenticeships. To date seven of them have won Apprentices of the Year Awards for Kia and Suzuki and one went onto to win the national IMI Skills Auto UK Apprentice of the year for multi franchise at the age of 21, beating all age contenders. We are the first Kia Dealer in the UK to have a Platinum Level Service Advisor and now have several other Platinum and Gold level staff amongst our midst in Sales, Service & Parts. This demonstrates our support in training and staff recognition, as no business can operate successfully without good people. Today we have three apprentices in training for service and parts.
The continued and planned expansion of the Company has seen the franchises represented change over the years, but the core of the business is now firmly based around Kia, MG Motor, Isuzu and Suzuki franchises. We have long heritages with Kia and Suzuki and new for 2018 we are delighted to represent MG Motor and Isuzu for Norwich and surrounding areas. We started with Suzuki in 1982 and Kia in 1999 and MG and Isuzu in 2018, making us the second longest serving dealer for Suzuki in the UK and one of the longest for Kia. MG Warrants the metal body panels of your new MG car against perforation due to corrosion, which is the direct result of defects in material or manufacturing process.
Perforation is defined as corrosion or rusting through of a body panel on the vehicle from the inner surface, to the outer surface (resulting in a hole).
A 7 years anti-perforation warranty applies to the MG ZS from the date of registration.
The MG GS, MG3 and MG6 all carry a 6 years anti-perforation warranty from the date of registration.
For the warranty period to remain valid it is required that you have your vehicle inspected every 12 months for the duration of the anti-perforation warranty by an MG Dealer and documented. The dealer may charge for this service.
In the unlikely event your car is effected by perforation as described above, then an MG Authorised Dealer/Repairer will replace or repair the effected panel free of charge.
In some instances, your MG will not be covered these include, but are not limited to;
Perforation due to corrosion as a result of; an accident, damage, modification, abuse, industrial fallout, or carrying corrosive or damaging materials, or external influences.
Perforation due to corrosion caused by the use of non-genuine MG parts, or parts not approved by MG, including used parts.
Perforation due to corrosion resulting from a lack of maintenance, as described in the owner’s manual, misuse or abuse.
An incomplete annual inspection record.
All Parts & Accessories purchased via and MG Dealer or Approved Repairer are covered by a 12-month warranty.
